It’s been four years since I was last in school. FOUR. I graduated High School in 2012, & its 2016. How does that happen? *ways to make yourself feel old*
When I enrolled in the French Aromatherapy course through Aromatic Studies I didn’t take into consideration that my study skills needed a little dusting off, & I dove right in as if it hadn’t been years since I was actually in school, studying & taking quiz’s daily.
The first night I sat down to get some work done, it all seemed TOTALLY over my head & I was like woah man I can’t even pronounce half of these words! Not to mention I’m a mom now & I do online school from home, so its seriously impossible to focus no matter what time of the day it is, there’s always so much to be done around here.
Not to mention I work on school at night when my body is telling me to go to SLEEP but I can’t ignore the goals and deadlines I set for myself, so I keep on keepin on(most of the time). But something had to give because I felt like a zombie who wasn’t even processing the information to be honest.
The second night, I diffused Vetiver, Rosemary, & Lemon (not to mention printed off my coursework so I could highlight and read from paper instead of a glowing screen π ). & it all started to click. I could FOCUS! I was so focused I finished two lessons, watched a lecture & took a quiz, which took me about 3 hours. I stayed up way too late but didn’t even care because I was GETTING IT! Whew. I was really starting to think that maybe school just wasn’t my thing anymore-but who was I kidding I always get giddy over school supplies and books regardless the time of year or season in my life.
With those three oils being my new FAVORITE to use while studying, I had to make a roller! & between the lack of sleep I’ve been getting + trying to cut back on coffee, I went ahead & made an energy boost roller too. π
Why yes, my nickname for this roller DID stem from my childhood obsession with Hocus Pocus (the movie) π
It’s super duper easy to make. Combine the following in a 10ml roller:
-7 Drops Lemon
-7 Drops Vetiver
-7 Drops Rosemary
**Fill HALF WAY with carrier oil! Or you could use a 5ml roller & fill it all the way π
Vetiver really puts the focus in Focus Pocus. π It’s very grounding & calming, it mellows me out to the point that I my mind is clear & I can concentrate. Sometimes it’s the only way I can really put the blinders on and give all my attention to on one concept or task at a time!
There have actually been some REALLY impressive medical studies done on Vetiver’s effectiveness of improving focus & concentration, I encourage you to hop on google & check it out! (research is your friend. especially if you or anyone you love deals with focus issues, do the research!)
Lemon & Rosemary both improve memory & concentration, so DUH they had to be included. Mom brain is real and let’s be real, I never had a great memory to begin with!
Now for the roller that EVERYONE could use..
This roller is also quick & easy to make! Combine the following in a 10ml roller:
-7 drops Lime
-7 drops Peppermint
-7 drops EN-R-GEE
**Fill HALF WAY with carrier oil! Or you could use a 5ml roller & fill it all the way π
The purple bottle on the left is prettttty straight forward π Its a blend of Rosemary, Juniper, Lemongrass, Idaho Balsam Fir, Clove, & Black Pepper! & BOY does it pack a punch. As soon as I apply or even smell it from the bottle I’m officially ALERT to say the least! It’s also pretty kick ass at promoting healthy circulation.
The Lime is to make the EN-R-GEE smell nicer because it’s not the lovliest smelling blend depending on who you ask, but with the peppermint & Lime it’s good to go! The Peppermint is strong enough to stand out and is a wake up call in itself.
I apply both rollers to my feet using the vita flex technique & to my hands via the brain flex points. My little cousin uses Vetiver & Cedarwood in his Focus roller & that’s HIS perfect combo– we’re all different individuals and we all respond to essential oils differently! If you need help figuring out your perfect combo for whatever area of life you’re wanting to be better supported(& you don’t already have an oil lady π ), feel free to send me a facebook message (click here)-I’d love to help! π
